GEM THANGKA
Thangka is a Tibetan Buddhist painting on cotton, or silk appliqué, usually depicting a Buddhist deity, scene, or mandala. Thangkas are traditionally kept unframed and rolled up when not on display, mounted on a textile backing somewhat in the style of Chinese scroll paintings, with a further silk cover on the front. The main composition often includes a central deity surrounded by other identified figures in a symmetrical composition.
Most thangkas are intended for personal meditation to help bring one further down the path to enlightenment. The Buddhist Vajrayana practitioners use a thangka image of their meditation deity as a guide by visualizing themselves as being that deity, thereby internalizing the Buddha qualities. Thangkas hang on or beside altars, and may be hung in the bedrooms or offices of monks and other devotees.
Wenwanjia’s gem thangkas are produced by respectful masters with distinctive traditional characteristics, strong religious overtones and unique artistic style. They are composed of genuine gold, silver, pearls, agate, coral, turquoise, malachite, cinnabar and other precious mineral stones. Saffron, rhubarb, indigo and other plant pigments are also used to illustrate the sacred nature. These natural ingredients ensure enduring quality and bright colors for many hundred years.
